Adults notice immediately when a shoe fits in terms of size. Children, on the other hand, have hardly any sense of pressure in their early years and therefore don’t usually feel if shoes fit properly or not. Above all, children's feet are still soft and malleable and adapt to the shoe. It’s therefore important to measure children's feet regularly to determine the right size before buying shoes.

The right shoe size for my child

Children's feet grow extremely quickly and in spurts. Between the ages of three and six, children's feet grow an average of two to three shoe sizes a year. By the time children reach school age, they still grow one to two sizes in the same period. That’s why it’s all the more important to check children's feet every 6 to 8 weeks at first, and later every 4 to 6 months. There are different ways of determining the right size:

1. The shoe size finder

In our online shop you’ll find our superfit shoe size calculator. With this tool you can quickly determine your child’s shoe size online and with little effort.

2. Place the foot on the insole

A large number of shoes in the superfit collection have removable insoles with the "perfect fitting line". This is a marking that helps to determine or check the correct shoe size for your child.

To have enough room for the foot to roll and grow, the toes should reach at least the lower line and extend no further than the upper line when the foot is placed on the insole. The "perfect" line indicates the optimal size.

The markings also help with regular size checks and indicate when the next shoe purchase is necessary. This should take place when the toes reach the upper line.

3. The measuring template

In addition, every superfit shoe package contains a measuring template for children's feet. This is a good help in determining the right shoe size for your offspring.

4. Specialist staff

Shoe retailers specialise in children's feet. To be on the safe side, you can have them measure your child's feet accurately. Children's shoe specialists are experienced in determining your child's shoe size and can advise you accordingly. That also goes for the the matching superfit shoes.

Space for freedom of movement in the shoe

Once you’ve determined the shoe size, the size should be checked again with the shoe itself.

Once children have walked a few metres in their new shoes, it’s best to check the fit of the foot in the shoe by feeling it. To do this, your child should stand firmly on both legs while you feel with your hands from back to front. This will help you to determine whether the shoe fits well.

With the help of the removable insole, you can also check the length again using the "perfect fitting line". Please make sure that the child does not curl their toes.

With the right size, nothing stands in the way of new superfit fun!
