Which impregnation for which material?

Whether it’s with spray, wax, cream or foam, impregnated shoes are better protected against moisture.

For leather shoes, a good shoe wax is often the best choice. It makes moisture simply roll off. For shoes made of suede or textiles, waterproofing sprays are more suitable.

Waterproofing - the right way

An impregnation spray is ideally sprayed onto the shoe from a distance of 30 cm. Because of the aerosols, this should always be done outdoors. Then let the shoes dry for about 15 minutes.

First impregnate, then apply cream

When impregnating, please make sure that the leather is only slightly damp and that no drops form. When the shoe is impregnated for the first time, it should be sprayed twice in succession. Only then should the shoe be treated with shoe polish.

It doesn't always have to be a spray

EA good alternative to conventional impregnation sprays is an impregnation cream to dab on or an impregnation foam. Allergy sufferers and people without balconies or terraces particularly appreciate this alternative.

GORE-TEX footwear comes with a water-repellent finish when purchased. Therefore, it’s not necessary to impregnate a new shoe. Find here more details on how to care for GORE-TEX footwear.

Important note on waterproofing agents

Cleaning and/or waterproofing agents can change the look and feel of upper materials. Please be sure to test the performance or care products on a small area before treating the whole shoe. Also be sure to read the instructions for use on your product.
