The superfit Environment Plan is our commitment to socially fair and resource-saving production of our children's shoes. That applies to the entire value chain, too. Our initiatives are one step on the way to getting our sustainable collections launched. After all, we take our responsibility as a manufacturer regarding sustainability seriously. That's why we always go one step further when it comes to the design and manufacture of each individual model and are therefore always ahead of our time.

Checked for harmful substances

We aim to produce our shoes using the most sustainable material. That’s why we have all materials tested in accredited laboratories. Only when they meet our high specifications in every respect, are they allowed to be used in our production.

Environmentally friendly production

We produce sustainably - from tanning to processing. We use recycled materials and leather from certified tanneries to minimise the ecological footprint of our children's shoes. We calculate the CO2 footprint of each individual shoe as early as the design phase.

Socially fair production

From the production of raw materials to the final step in manufacturing, our Code of Conduct guarantees that our strict social criteria are met. The result is greater safety at work and social justice. Not only for our own employees but also for those of our suppliers – all over the world.

Our environmental certifications show that superfit shoes are exceptionally sustainable

We are particularly pleased that the measures of our superfit environmental plan have received numerous awards.

Strict, stricter, strictest: our criteria for ourselves and our suppliers

We’ve established an environmental management system at our own sites, which are also EMAS or ISO14001 certified. We produce a large part of our collections at them. Plus, our cooperation partners must comply with the strict requirements of our Code of Conduct. In this way, we ensure that only tested materials find their way into the production of our children's shoes.

We work directly with our suppliers without using middlemen. These are evaluated by us at regular intervals. In this way we can guarantee maximum transparency and the highest quality.

Before we start production, all data on the materials for the collection are sent to our quality and sustainability departments. Whether it’s about the ingredients used or the tanning process of the leather. Even when this data meets our strict criteria, the materials are put through their paces again in our laboratories. We only use them for our superfit collections if the results meet our requirements.

Social commitment and sustainability: our contribution to a better future

We are committed to various social projects, both within our company and in the wider community. For example, we have been involved with SOS Children's Villages and Rainbows for many years and work with Concordia as an Impact Angel.

Social responsibility

For us, doing business sustainably means also comprehensively accepting our social responsibility. In our own production facility in India, for example, we provide a shuttle service for our female employees so that they can optimally balance their private and professional lives. And maintain their own kindergarten and a 10-stage school for over 500 children from the age of 4. In addition, we finance social initiatives that are primarily concerned with the well-being of our little ones: for example, for many years we’ve been involved with SOS Children's Villages, with Rainbows, and work as an Impact Angel with Concordia.

Material left over from the production of the soles of our slippers is recycled in our production process. On average, this can save up to 24% of the sole material. This not only reduces the amount of waste, but also the need for raw materials. In one season, we save as much material as a full-grown elephant weighs.

Our innovative tools and platforms for greater sustainability

Sustainable shoe production is calculable - thanks to the eco database

Our collections comprise around 500 items. To reduce our carbon footprint, we have set up an eco-database that calculates environmental factors such as CO2, water and resource consumption. This enables our designers to develop ecologically optimised children's shoes as early as the development phase.

Our eco-database was honoured with the Environmental Management Award for Climate Protection in 2022. This was followed in 2023 by the German Innovation Award in the ‘Business to Business - Information Technologies’ category.

VIOS®: our development platform for sustainable materials

We introduced our VIOS® platform specifically to operate more sustainably. That’s been the case since 2013. VIOS® takes its name from the Greek word BIOS and the Latin terms VIVO and VIA. So VIOS® has several meanings: nature, life, way. This platform ensures a holistic and scientific approach to our aspiration for sustainability. As part of this, we introduced the VIOS Restricted Substance List. Our own standard specifies significantly higher limits than required by legislation or quality certifications. This ensures that we use the most sustainable materials possible to produce our children's shoes.
